The New Impatiens (203-227)

With cool summers and warm winters, Impatiens are perfect plants for Bay Area gardens. Derik Pitman, noted authority on the genus Impatiens, will be showing slides of some of the nearly 170 species from his collection. He works with the San Francisco Botanical Garden and is introducing many new species of Impatiens in cultivation. He is founder of the International Impatiens Society and has created the educational website www.mrimpatiens.com. He has also authored several articles on Impatiens for Pacific Horticulture as well as given lectures on his passion.
