Pauline Tsui

Profile of Pauline Tsui • Born and raised in Hong Kong. • During early teen years took lessons in Chinese brush painting and calligraphy. • Attended Mills College in California and graduated with Bachelor of Arts degree in Practice of Art and French Studies. • Attended a one-year study abroad program in France at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux- Arts in Paris. • Studied Fashion Design and Merchandising and received Associate Degree in Applied Science at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, awarded summa cum laude. • Traveled extensively for work in Asia, Europe, and United States as a fashion designer, brand manager, general merchandise manager, fashion consultant, lecturer and art facilitator. • Moved to California and worked for the prestigious gift store Gumps, sparking a love affair with the beautiful ornaments and collectible gifts in the holiday shop. • Started Paulinpo Design to develop a line of multicultural children’s books and collectible soft dolls in 2006. • Became a volunteer at the Asian Arts Museum of San Francisco; after training and qualification became a docent of the museum in 2007. • Began teaching art classes, conducting workshops for both adults and children, and participating in cultural events and art festivals throughout the Bay Area. • Authored and illustrated the children’s book Grandpa’s Treasure Box – the Adventures of Bobo & Tashi, which was published in May 2008. • Created the Precious Pollabies® brand, designing Bobo, Tashi and other Asian-American dolls and animal companions to promote multi-cultural understanding and creativity.
