Don Mahoney

Dr. Don Mahoney San Francisco Botanical Garden Horticulture Manager.--- Dr. Don Mahoney received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 and his Master of Science degree in 1977 in botany from the University of Nebraska. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Wildland Resource Science in 1984 from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Mahoney has always been an avid horticulturist and has managed San Francisco Botanical Garden plant sales for the past 20 years. He also teaches propagation and ecology classes in the education department at the Botanical Gardens. His ecological garden in Richmond, recently featured in the SF Chronicle, has generated much interest in the subject. One of the Bay Area's leading horticulture experts, Dr. Mahoney is the SFBGS Curator. He is currently president of the California Horticultural Society. Dr. Mahoney has lectured widely on native plants, plant propagation and garden design.
