Kerry Barrs
Kerry Barrs is a Professional Gardener & a long-time San Francisco Botanical Garden docent. Born in Toronto, Ontario Canada in 1951 to a Canadian and a Dutch immigrant, was raised in the Greater Chicago area. Came to California on vacation in 1977 and never returned to the Mid-West. After seven years in beautiful Orange County, Southern California he then lived two years in Sac-a-tomatoes. In 1986 he made his move to San Francisco and the Peninsula and began volunteering at San Francisco Botanical Garden Nursery where he was first exposed to rock garden miniature plants that he still collect to this day. After a Botany classes at SFSU and CITY Collage, in the spring of 1988 he was accepted to FILOLI ‘s internship program, and shortly thereafter began his maintenance business based in Woodside.
