More About Carnivorous Plants:
Carnivorous plants are mostly found in nutrient deficient bogs. In these environments, stagnant water gives rise to a multitude of insects. These plants have evolved to capture small insects to replace the nutrients they lack.
Carnivorous plants encompass a large variety of mechanisms to kill their prey, namely small flies and other insects. Pitfall traps lure unsuspecting prey into a pool of digestive enzymes, while the infamous venus fly trap closes rapidly on an impetuous victim. |
