Birding at the Garden (262-115) Bird Walks |
|||||||||||
First Sunday of every month starting at 8am. Come bird-watching on the first Sunday of each month (8:00am, Main Gate). This docent-led slow-paced amble from the Main Gate to the far reaches of the John Muir Trail is co-sponsored by SFBGS and the Golden Gate Audubon Society.
We especially welcome and support beginning birders with information about the birds, how to spot them, how to identify them and what their behaviors reveal about their little feathered lives. It is of interest to note interactions between the birds and the plants during different seasons. The presence of water in the Garden is also an attraction to birds, from nuthatches drinking from the hands of St. Francis to herons fishing in the pond. On these first Sunday trips, we usually spot around 30 species, both resident birds and passing migrants.
We meet at the Main Gate, entering the Garden at 8:00AM. Parking is readily available at this hour on Sunday mornings. This is a free program. Donations to support the Garden are welcomed and appreciated. Hope to see you there! |
