Many plants contain essences that are used in health practice throughout the world. These essences are obtained through a process called distillation. These essences, called essential oils, are the scent of the plant in its liquid form. We use these essences in health, skin care and perfumery. In the class portion, Jeanne Rose will discuss many plants growing in the arboretum that produce essential oils, and how to use them for stress, sports, or skin care and a variety of situations. In the workshop portion of the class, you will identify the plants and be part of the process and Jeanne will discuss the distillation.
