SANCTUARY: The Promised Land. Are We There Yet? (212-3090)
A Lecture & Tour with artists Topher Delaney + Margo Majewska + Kika Probst

How does one define develop sanctuary through ENGAGEMENT both physically emotionally in contrast to ISOLATION both physically emotionally? How does one imbue acknowledge symbols within constructed nature (landscape garden) which evoke the realization of our relationship with our intimacy to nature? We will both visually through discussion reflect upon iconic evidences of perceived constructed boundaries of sanctuaries. We will address the WHERE = topography WHY = cultural spiritual beliefs which have contributed to the creation of personal public relationships to physical spaces of reflection spiritual renewal????

PROGRAM: Morning: Lecture Discussion on the ethnology of Sanctuaries. Lunch (BYO) Discussion: The Nature of Nourishment.  Edible Gardens in an urban context with focus on SFBG’s Arcimboldo’s Edible Garden. Afternoon: A walk through UCSF Medicinal/Botanical Garden (654 Minnesota St). Drawing + writing techniques for field notes. Margo Majewska, Adjunct Professor at CCA will share drawing techniques.
