Following Botanical Illustration III and continuing our use of a "Naturalist's Palette", we will put our watercolor techniques together with compositional and layout techniques to develop complete studies of specimens from the Garden. We will focus on techniques for shade and shadow, light and shine, texture and detail.

Gouache techniques will be thoroughly taught with an emphasis upon the needs of the botanical artist. Each participant will assemble and learn to use a 20-color palette of Winsor Newton Gouache. Papers, surfactants, brushes, grounds and addends will be covered

Experience with watercolor and drawing recommended.
