Aesthetic Pruning Workshop (212-120)

Sat, Oct 20, 10:00am--1:00pm
Sat, Nov 3, 10:00am--1:00pm
Sun, Nov 4, 10:00am--1:00pm

The first two days of this three-day workshop will be lecture/demonstration style classes held at the San Francisco Botanical Garden to establish the fundamental theory and approach of the aesthetic pruning of trees and shrubs.

Day one will be devoted to basic principles, tool use, care and safety as well as the specific types of cuts and their applications.

Day two will delve into how to approach a tree or shrub systematically so that the pruning experience proceeds in a controlled goal-oriented way rather than hit or miss.

Day three will be dedicated to hands-on field work (class will meet in Sebastopol) where the principles of the previous two days may be put to practical exploration.

It is the intention of this workshop to de-mystify the art of pruning making successful interaction with our plants available to those who work toward it.

Transportation to Sebastopol on November 4 is not provided.
