There are over 5000 species of plants growing in the Gardens of SFBG. In this bundled two-part class, students spend the morning with J. Charmain Giuliani looking at some of the more unusual plants in this collection. Charmain will guide you through the gardens focusing on thorns, hooks, petal-less flowers and bizarre fruits! Learn about theories and histories behind plant adaptations and characteristics. Even find out how you can grow them in your own garden.

In the afternoon, join Mary L. Harden (course 213-162) learning to draw these exotic bits and pieces of unique plants discovered on the morning garden walk. Explore easy drawing techniques with pencil, pen and ink, and ink wash. Discover your innate abilities to draw! These classes are about the tools and techniques of observation and expression for plant lovers of all varieties.
All levels welcome.
