Fall Color and Botany in the Carson Pass Area (241-232)

Friday, October 19 through Sunday, October 21

October in the Sierra brings blazes of color from dogwoods, willows, cottonwoods, and quaking aspens. It is also a quiet time when plants are in fruit or going dormant; muted colors vie with the brilliance of the blue sky and vivid autumnal leaves. We will learn to identify the many shrubs, trees, and wildflowers at the end of their cycle.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Woodfords Inn in Markleeville (530.694.2410).
MEALS: Breakfasts and dinners out; bring lunch on the hikes
ITINERARY: Meet Friday evening at Woodfords for dinner and to plan hikes; Saturday, all-day hike to Winnemucca and Roundtop lakes; Sunday, half-day hike to Meiss Lake before driving home.

Price does not include accommodations or transportation.
