Here is a chance to learn all about California's beautiful native bulbs, ferns, and grasses, often neglected in plantings or glossed over in basic classes. In particular, our native bulbs are among the most colorful and diverse with a wide variety of brodiaeas, fritillarias, lilies, fawn-lilies, wild onions, and mariposa tulips. Our native bunchgrasses are excellent at creating meadows; some are also usable as turf. And, our native ferns grow in every imaginable habitat. Come and learn the richness of these groups. Each session will feature slides and specimens (when available). We'll finish the course with a Saturday field trip(October 27).
