Dazzling Dahlias (212-255)

Saturday, August 19, 2006 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Dahlias thrive in our cool, foggy San Francisco summers rewarding us with a bountiful array of bloom colors, forms and sizes. This program is planned to coincide with the peak of our dahlia season and the Dahlia Society's annual exhibit and competition at the County Fair Building. The session will begin with a talk about dahlia growing and propogation tips, and a preview of the latest introductions from dahlia breeders. There will be ample to exchange information with Dr. Gaensler and other members of the SF Dahlia society. We will then follow the presentation with a pleasant stroll to the Dahlia Dell of GGP, located next to the Conservatory of Flowers. There you will be able to view hundreds of plants in full bloom. The highlight of the day will be a visit to the Society's Dahlia competition, with tips on what it takes to win a blue ribbon.
